The studio Art Contained Del Sol will host an opening reception from 6-9 p.m. June 13 for its next show, “Rejectamenta II,” which hopes to support artists and bring attention to the massive amount of trash discarded by humans.
The show will run from June 13 to Aug. 2.
“Throughout centuries, artists and crafters have contributed to the concept of recycling by transforming discarded materials into creative art,” according to the studio. “By keeping tossed materials out of landfills, they help conserve our natural resources. This initiative celebrates the transformation of rejected or useless items into beautiful and meaningful creations.”
Artists who want to submit their pieces must drop them off between noon and 4 p.m. June 1 and 2. The pieces must include the medium, dimensions (which cannot exceed 32 inches in width), the price at which they wish to sell it and the artist’s name. Each item must be fitted with a wire for hanging, and sculptures must come with a stand.
A $10 entry fee is required to submit an item, and there will be a 25% commission collected by the studio for each item sold. All unsold items must be collected at the conclusion of the show
The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and closed Sunday at 3058 W. 55th Ave. Entry to view the show is free.
